The New York Times:  Confident Collectors Heat Up London Auctions

The tepid art market appears to be heating up, spurred by a successful series of winter auctions in London that suggests collectors are starting to feel more confident about art values.

The chief houses— Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips—sold at least $837.7 million during the two-week series, breezing past their $593 million combined low estimate and surpassing last year’s $620 million series total.
