Tomorrow: The Magic of the Blackwing Pencil

By Hannah J. Farrow, AliveTampaBay Correspondent

Tomorrow, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Oxford Exchange, local artist Rachel Baeder will draw a variety of images using different techniques and Blackwing pencils. The event, called “Blackwing Live,” is free and open to the public.

Originally introduced in the 1930s, the Blackwing 602 pencil — with its signature rectangular eraser — quickly became synonymous with quality. Blackwing pencils were discontinued in the 1990s, but were fondly remembered by many in the art world for having been the instrument of choice for award-winning creators throughout the 20th century. In 2010 the Palomino founder re-introduced Blackwing pencils for a new generation of artists. Learn more at http://blackwing602.com/
