‘Dali & Schiaparelli: In Daring Fashion’ Exhibit Ties In with Other Programs (video)

Video and story by Corey Dylan, AliveTampaBay Correspondent

In Part 2 of my interview at the Dali Museum, Dali Curator of Education Peter Tush  discusses programs that tie in with the “Dali & Schiaparelli: In Daring Fashion” exhibit that runs through Jan. 14 at the downtown St. Petersburg museum.

“Dali & Schiaparelli: In Daring Fashion” is daring indeed! The famed Surrealist and fashion designer became friends and collaborators in the 1930s and I recently stopped by the exhibit to for Part 2 of my video interview at the  The Dali Museum  with Mr. Tush.

Artists and fashionistas from around the world have taken notice of this wonderful exhibit and, as Vogue Magazine noted, Elsa Schiaparelli was the first to design a jumpsuit for women and Salvador Dali made the first artist video. They were innovators and experimenters. Today, many artists, musicians and fashion designers collaborate. But in 1935 it was a novel idea.  The stunning work that Dali and Schiaparelli created together serves as an inspiration even today. This installation includes Schiaparelli’s 1937 Lobster Dress, made famous by the Duchess of Windsor and hand painted by Salvador Dali, is a must-see in person!

Part 1 of my video interview  was Tuesday (Dec. 19) with Peter Tush on AliveTampaBay.
