Singer and multi-instrumentalist Dom Flemons will perform at the James Museum at 6 p.m. on March 6 at the downtown St. Petersburg musuem.

Tickets to see Mr. Flemons, whose “Black Cowboys” was recently nominated for a Grammy for Best Folk Album, are $15 for members, $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

The James, which booked Mr. Flemons before his Grammy nomination, invited him to perform because of the “artistic synergy between the musician and the museum,” the museum said. “Black Cowboys” pays tribute to the music, culture, and the complex history of the golden era of the Wild West in America.

“His album and performance fit perfectly with our permanent collection,” said The James’ Founding Director Bernice Chu. “Flemons is a leader in 21st century folk music, a master of weaving African-American history into his music. We could not think of a more perfect venue to celebrate this revolutionary musical artist, and are thrilled to welcome him to The James.”

Mr. Flemons’ appearance is one of the unique offerings by the museum to showcase cultural diversity through various forms of art.
