Widely known for his iconic images of the American flag, along with targets, numbers, maps and light bulbs, Jasper Johns has occupied a noteworthy position in the art world since his first solo exhibition in New York in 1958.

The Royal Academy’s new exhibit, Jasper Johns: ‘Something Resembling Truth,’ will be the first comprehensive survey of the artist’s work to be held in the United Kingdom in 40 years.

Consisting of more than 150 paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints, the exhibit will reveal the changes occurring over the past six decades, along with the experimentation that Johns continues to apply to his current practice.

“The intellect and emotion of the objects and paintings, prints and assemblages of this exquisite artist put him at the center of the art of our time,” The Guardian writes.
