World’s Most Instagrammed Location

Although the Eiffel Tower might be the expected winner for the world’s most-Instagrammed place, this year it was Disneyland in California, with 14.6 million hashtags.

The Eiffel Tower came in second, with 7.2 million hashtags.

Fear not: Florida rounded out the top three, with 5.4 million hashtags emanating from Walt Disney World in Orlando.

Despite being the more Instagrammed of the Disney parks, Disneyland has fewer visitors than Disney World.

“Due to its larger size and comparative position to more large population centers, Disney World consistently outperforms Disneyland in attendance,” notes USA Today. “The Magic Kingdom theme park in Orlando entertained 17 million visitors in 2008, with another 10.9 million at Epcot, 9.6 million at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and 9.54 million at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. In contrast, the Disneyland theme park in California saw 14.7 million visitors in 2008, with another 5.56 million visitors at Disney’s California Adventure.”
