Life Imitates Art, Specifically “Mad Men”

In a charming example of life imitating art, Heinz announced it was working with Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, the fictional ad firm from the AMC show Mad Men, for its new campaign.

Slogan: “Pass the Heinz.”

According to AdWeek, the ads will appear in the New York Post and in Variety, as well as on billboards in New York City.

Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, is still making waves in real-life advertising, despite the fact that the show ended two years ago. In the sixth season of Mad Men, Don pitches an idea that’s “clean, simple and tantalizingly incomplete” for Heinz ketchup. Solution: “Pass the Heinz.” In the episode, the fictional Heinz executives from the 1960s don’t like it. They pass on the idea, calling it “half an ad.”

But the real-life Heinz executives in 2017 apparently love it.
