Lively Conversation: Facebook Exec Offers Inside Look at the Social Media Colossus

Campbell Brown, left, head of news partnerships at Facebook, and Kelly McBride, vice president of The Poynter Institute, Thursday evening at a community conversation in St. Petersburg  about Facebook’s role in the current media’s ecosystem, which included a lively discussion of fake news.  “People behind fake news are motivated by money more than politics,” Brown, formerly an award-winning anchor and correspondent for NBC News and CNN, told an audience of journalists and engaged citizens at Poynter.

The Poynter institute for Media Studies, which is based in St. Petersburg, is a global leader in journalism education and a strategy center.
