Iggy Pop and the Stooges laid the groundwork for punk rock when they debuted in 1969, winning a cult of devoted fans and influencing bands from the Ramones to Nirvana. Their heavy sound and wild onstage antics were just too much for general audiences of the day, but now, with the trailer for the documentary Gimme Danger, they’re poised to win over a brand new crowd. Directed by longtime fan Jim Jarmusch, the documentary from Amazon Studios has a new trailer, below, and a premiere date: Nov. 4. Featuring narration from living band members, including the always-entertaining Florida resident Pop, and archival interviews with the deceased, the documentary promises to be a sharp, unflinching look at a band that was too savage to be popular.
