Kenny Leon, the Tony award-winning Broadway and film director, was honored Saturday evening (Feb. 10) at the inaugural Legacy-56 Sankofa Series held in St. Petersburg. Mr. Leon, who grew up in St. Petersburg, has a long and impressive list of Broadway credits that includes a Tony Award for best director of a play and revival of a play for “A Raisin in the Sun.” Legacy-56, a nonprofit organization, is “committed to transforming systems to promote equality and excellence, while restoring value in spirituality, culture and community,” according to the organization.
