A bold stroke by the University of Florida.
This is Greg C. Truax with OnThePoint.
The university is dismantling its diversity, equity, and inclusion infrastructure or DEI. DEI, a sociopolitical movement, overrides the idea that equal opportunity is the key to a just society in America.
With a $5 million pivot to faculty enhancement, the move is a clear statement for the university to focus on the core mission, academic excellence – educating students in the sciences, arts, technology and humanities.
This pioneering action to end DEI is not about abandoning diversity. But it is a challenge to the prevailing norms of the DEI bureaucracy by questioning the balance between inclusivity and academic focus. This is Greg C. Truax.
