Florida Democrats say their new organizing effort, Pendulum, is the start of a comeback. But Pendulum launches into a stiff political headwind: a well-funded GOP with a conservative message that fits Florida’s right-leaning electorate.
The Democratic party chair promises year-round organizing—but Republican’s hold supermajorities in the Florida House and Senate, dominate fundraising, and now lead voter registration by over 1.4 million. Hillsborough and Miami-Dade counties have recently flipped Republcian red.
Not one Democrat holds statewide office in Florida. Not one. And their struggles echo those of the national Democratic Party. So yes, the pendulum is swinging—but it’s not swinging left.
