Recent polls show working-class voters favoring former President Donald Trump. This shift highlights a critical issue for the Democratic Party, which constantly tells us that “all votes should count” and calls for “democracy.”
Yet, by pushing President Biden out of the 2024 race, Democratic elites risk disenfranchising the 14 million primary voters who supported him. Lawmakers, opinion leaders, and donors seem to override the voices of millions, exposing a tension between the party’s democratic ideals and elite influence.
The word hypocracy comes to mind.
Isn’t it time for Democratic Party leaders to simply practice what they so often preach?
