Welcome back to OnThePoint, I’m Greg C. Truax.
For years, Democrats supported clean, nonpartisan funding bills—voting for 13 of them under President Biden. But when Republicans offered another straightforward extension to keep the government open, Democrats reversed course.
Why? Because they want to add $1.5 trillion of debt over the next decade in partisan spending demands to a simple funding bill. That’s simply not acting responsibly—the national debt is $36 trillion. Instead of working across the aisle to ensure stability and continue bipartisan appropriations, Democrats chose politics over prudence.
The American people deserve better than another bloated, partisan wish list taxpayers cannot afford.
