The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts (FMoPA) will open its newest exhibition Under the Cuban Sun on Sept. 22. Generously sponsored by Susie and Mitchell Rice and Stanton Storer, the exhibition will be on view in the second-floor galleries until Dec. 31.

The all-black-and-white exhibition will feature photography that explores Cuba’s unique climate and light conditions. The photographs, taken by both Cuban and non-Cuban photographers, depict the everyday life of Cuba from the 1930s to today.

“This exhibition comes at an exciting time, as the ever-changing relationship between Cuba and the U.S. has reemerged in the national spotlight,” said FMoPA Executive Director Zora Carrier, Ph.D.

An opening reception will be held at the museum from 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 22. Noel Smith, curator of Latin American and Caribbean Art at the USF Contemporary Art Museum, will give a lecture on the exhibition. The reception is open to the public. Admission is pay-as-you choose, and all proceeds benefit FMoPA.

Regular admission to the museum is free for members and $10 for not-yet members.

For more information, please email info@fmopa.org, or call the museum at (813) 221-2222.
