CITY, the Tampa Museum of Art’s signature fashion event, will this year showcase the work of Venezuelan fashion designer Angel Sanchez at the downtown Tampa musuem on Saturday, Sept. 14.
CITY: Fashion + Art + Culture, an emulsion of fashion, art and culture, “raises funds to bring art and arts education programs for visitors of all ages to the community,” according to the museum. The CITY 2019 co-chairs are Nina Traviesa and Lauren Pepin.
About Angel Sanchez, according to the museum:
“Angel Sanchez has been captivated by fashion since childhood, where he grew up surrounded by dress forms and fabrics in his mother’s Venezuelan atelier. An architect by trade and a designer by choice, he is now a proud member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Today, Angel is renowned worldwide for designs that reflect his architectural discipline and structure while creating new shapes and proportions that hold true to the timeless perfection of traditional couture dressmaking. Angel’s designs are renowned for celebrating women and allowing them to take center stage.
“Most notably, Angel designed wedding gowns for Sandra Bullock, Eva Longoria, and Princess Tatiana of Greece. Angel’s talent has won over celebrities on the red carpet and the international party circuit, including Meryl Streep, Taylor Swift and Diane Lane.”
