Welcome back to OnThePoint, this is Greg C. Truax.
When Americans think of foreign aid, they imagine feeding the hungry or building schools in war-torn regions—not funding niche cultural projects abroad.
Yet USAID has spent taxpayer dollars on programs like a $47,000 transgender opera in Colombia and a $70,000 DEI musical in Ireland. This is not what hardworking Americans expect.
Wisely, President Trump has tasked Elon Musk with rooting out waste and abuse across the federal government. Critics may scoff at Musk’s unconventional role, but someone needs to ensure our aid dollars go toward meaningful programs, not bizarre vanity projects.
Americans have every right to demand accountability.
