The Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg is now home to “Gates of Hell, 1987.”  The acrylic and collage on canvas by the artist Theo Wujcik (1936-2014) is a gift to the museum from Susan Johnson in honor of Katherine Pill, the museum’s curator of Contemporary Art.  Inspired by literary classic Dante’s Inferno, “Gates of Hell” is the focal point of the Theo Wujcik Cantos Exhibit running through June 2. The exhibit at the downtown St. Petersburg museum also features selections from the artist’s personal notebooks and collage studies.  Artist Wujcik, who was born in Detroit, made his way to Florida, became a fixture in the Ybor City art scene and was a highly respected professor at the University of South Florida from 1970 to 1993.   — Photos and copy by Elaine Sweeny Fashion and Lifestyle Vlogger Strut.Fashion
