The Tampa Bay History Center exhibit called “Gateways to the Caribbean: Mapping the Florida-Cuba Connection” continues at the downtown Tampa museum through Jan 28.
“Gateways to the Caribbean,” which includes more than 50 maps, reveals an “unbroken thread between the Sunshine State and the island nation dating back nearly 500 years,” according to the museum. The exhibit “charts five centuries of connections and interaction between Florida and Cuba through rare and original maps, lithographs and other documents.”
The Tampa Bay History Center’s 60,000‐square‐foot, waterfront building, is located at 801 Old Water Street in Tampa’s Channel District.
Established in 1989, the History Center collects and preserves the distinctive and authentic historical materials of the Tampa Bay Region and presents these treasures in exhibitions, programs and publications.
