It was a resounding victory for Donald Trump in Iowa.

The former president carried more than 50 percent of the vote in the Iowa caucus, ahead of a distant second place Governor Ron DeSantis and former governor Niki Haley, who placed third.
Mr. Trump is an effective communicator. He is a major political force who has produced a realignment of the Republican Party. He delivers an anti-establishment message that speaks to the distrust many have today with political institutions. Voters also fondly recall Trump’s record in office.
