A strong civics education program means more involved and informed citizens.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced $1 million will expand the Florida Civics and Debate Initiative.

The Florida Civics and Debate Initiative’s mission is to create access and opportunities for all Florida students to have the best civics education.

With funding doubling, the initiative’s program can expand to 60 school districts from 45.  It’s expected that all school districts in Florida should be participating in the Civics and Debate Initiative by the end of the 2022 school year.

Governor DeSantis pointed out that unlike the Biden administration, Florida has “focused on civics excellence, teaching accurate American history without an ideological agenda.”
