There’s some good news for Republican candidates vying for the three statewide cabinet offices.
These important races have been lightly covered by the news media. So here’s an update from a recent statewide opinion poll.
The Mason-Dixon telephone poll of 800 likely voters showed Republican candidates for attorney general, chief financial officer and agriculture commissioner holding double-digit leads over their Democratic opponents.
Attorney General Ashley Moody leads her challenger Aramis Ayala by 50 percent to 37 percent. State Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis leads his challenger Adam Hattersley by 47 percent to 37 percent.
In the Agriculture Commissioner’s race, the one open cabinet seat, Republican Wilton Simpson leads Democrat Naomi Esther Blumer by 47 percent to 34 percent.
