Welcome back to OnThePoint, I’m Greg C. Truax.
Not since FDR’s New Deal in the mid-1930s has a president tried to remake the federal government this aggressively.
And here’s the key point: the New Deal’s big-government philosophy has kept expanding federal control for decades — through permanent federal bureaucracies, taxpayer-funded NGOs, and cultural gatekeepers. President Trump is taking on that unelected power center.
The “experts” — often wrong — said the border couldn’t be secured. Illegal immigration couldn’t be deterred. Tariffs and tax cuts would tank the economy. A tougher foreign policy would alienate our allies, it’s ok for men to play in women’s sports leagues.
In the end, it’s a Trump common-sense agenda that connects with millions of Americans.
