The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, in partnership with the Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (TIGLFF), will host An Evening with Kalup Linzy at FMoPA at 8 p.m. on Oct. 12.
The boundary-breaking performance artist will present a collection of his short narratives and music-based videos and answer questions about them. In addition to the presentation, there also will be an art raffle and refreshments. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Mise en Place.
Linzy is best known for his series of politically charged videos that satirize the conventions of TV soap operas. He has worked with James Franco, Chloe Sevigny, Michael Stipe and Diane von Furstenberg. His work is in the public collections at the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Whitney Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The event is sponsored by Friends of FMoPA. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at www.TIGLFF.com.
