More Black and Hispanic voters are self-describing as Republicans.
My statement is based on a national poll by NBC. Importantly, this trend is a boost to Republican candidates. Recently, I noted this trend in Florida as 2020 was a banner year for GOP candidates.
In the national NBC poll, blue-collar Hispanic’s shifted to the GOP by 13 points over the past decade. The same for blue-collar Black voters, which shifted to the GOP by 7 points.
This trend helped former President Trump. He did lose the election, but gained 4 percentage points with Black voters, 5 points with Asian Americans and 3 points with Hispanics, according to AP Votecast.
The defection of these voters to the GOP is a big wake-up call to the Democratic Party.
