Double Vision, a solo exhibition of 12 paintings by Mark Mitchell, has opened at the TECO Public Art Gallery in downtown Tampa.
The work by the conceptual pop artist has been widely exhibited, including Art Basel Miami at Scope, SEE|ME Exhibition at the Louvre and Armory Arts Week in New York City. Mr. Mitchell is the recipient of the Creative Pinellas Emerging Artist Grant 2019-20.
“At its core,” according to artist Mitchell, “my work is an attempt at a wake-up call, by exposing things that may otherwise be hidden from view. Each piece is intended to catch the viewer off guard, invite them in for further exploration, and challenge them to make connections, find meaning, and ultimately see differently some aspect of the world in which we live.”
Double Vision is free of charge and runs through Feb. 28. The gallery, which is located at 702 North Franklin Street, is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, contact Curator Debra Radke at dradke2@gmail.com or Mr. Mitchell at www.markmitchellstudio.com.
