A stirring speech by keynote speaker Roslyn M. Brock challenging citizens to lead and serve brought a gathering of more than 1,100 community, business and political leaders to its feet at Monday’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast at the Coliseum in downtown St. Petersburg. Brock, national board chairwoman of the NAACP, said to solve problems “we must find common ground” and that “we are the they who must make a difference in our community.” The sold-out leadership awards breakfast has been hosted annually since 1986 by the St. Petersburg Metropolitan Section, National Council of Negro Women Inc.
