Tampa Bay Celebrates King Holiday

Events celebrating the legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. will be held across Tampa Bay today.

  • The 28th Annual City of Tampa Martin Luther King Day Parade begins at noon at Cuscaden Park and ends at Middleton High School. The parade features floats, bands, cars, trucks, motorcycles, horses, and walking units.
  • Children will salute Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the Glazer museum. A day of “I Have A Dream” activities and Georgia Smoothies are included with admission.
  • MLK Day Skate: The skate park on East Columbus will open early for extra hours of skating starting at 10 a.m.
  •  MLK Dream Big Parade: This St. Petersburg parade, which begins at 11 a.m., will feature the Florida A&M marching band and Tuskegee University’s Marching Crimson Piper Band. Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston will serve as grand marshal.
