Welcome back to OnThePoint, I’m Greg C. Truax
Europe once drove progress—conquering seas, building empires, and pioneering capitalism and industry. Today, it drifts in decline.
Stagnant economies, aging populations, and suffocating welfare states sap vitality, while endless regulation strangles innovation. The continent’s economies have remained largely stagnant for about 15 years, according to a Wall Street Journal report about Europe.
Instead of unleashing enterprise, European leaders cling to bureaucracy and higher taxes. Red tape? It took 12 years just for permits for a power line, the Journal reported.
Europe today is admired for its past, edging to irrelevant in the present. Without bold reform, the continent’s destiny will be to watch the USA make history.
