To raise awareness and money for research at Moffitt Cancer Center, I participated in the annual Paddle Against Cancer held at The Club at Treasure Island on Saturday.
Paddle Against Cancer was founded in 2011 by stage-4 kidney cancer survivor Gene Evans. The Memorial Day weekend event is now in its 7th year and has raised more than $215,000 for research in the fight against cancer.
Participants of all ages participated on stand up paddle boards for 3, 5 or 7 miles and later enjoyed live music and the after-party at the club. This event has introduced me to some really great people who have a love of the outdoors and desire to help people who are fighting for their lives with the most positive spirit.
