Attack by Trump Lifts Vanity Fair’s Numbers

By David R. Wheeler, Editor

After Donald Trump tweeted that Vanity Fair magazine had “poor numbers,” the magazine increased its subscription rate by a hundred fold. “Has anyone looked at the really poor numbers of @VanityFair Magazine?” Trump tweeted. “Way down, big trouble, dead! Graydon Carter, no talent, will be out!”

Shortly thereafter, Vanity Fair unveiled a new tagline: “The Magazine Trump Doesn’t Want You to Read.”

“This was the highest number of subscriptions sold in a single day ever at Condé Nast,” a Condé Nast spokesperson told Folio magazine.

All of this invites the question: Is an attack from Trump the best way to increase your business?
