Affordable Words, Expensive Votes

Welcome back to OnThePoint, I’m Greg C. Truax.

Democrats never miss a chance to talk about “affordability.” They say they want to lower costs for working families. But when Congress voted on tax relief in July 2025, every single Democrat voted no.

Lower taxes make living more affordable.

The Republican sponsored legislation lets Americans keep more of what they earn with tax relief on qualifying overtime and tips, no tax on Social Security for many seniors, a larger Child Tax Credit, a permanently doubled standard deduction, and a deduction for qualifying auto loan interest.

Democrats’ rhetoric about affordability says one thing.  Their unanimous “no” votes in Congress against making taxes more affordable say something entirely different.

From the NewsTalk 1040 studios, I’m Greg C. Truax.
