According to the Tax Foundation, the top 1 percent alone paid over $1 trillion in income taxes—significantly more than the $531 billion contributed by the bottom 90 percent of taxpayers.
These numbers counter the laughable claims from liberals like Sen. Bernie Sanders, who say the wealthy quote “aren’t paying their fair share.”
