As the Florida gubernatorial campaigns start to rev up their engines, let’s take a look at two recent statewide public opinion polls of registered voters.
A University of North Florida poll concluded Feb. 20 shows a wide lead for Gov. Ron DeSantis in the race for governor. The Republican incumbent leads Congressman Charlie Crist, a democrat, by 21 points. The governor leads democrat Agricultural Commissioner Nikki Fried by 23 points.
In a Mason-Dixon gubernatorial poll concluded Feb. 10, DeSantis leads Crist by 8 points, Fried by 11 points and State Senator Annette Taddeo by 16 points. Taddeo was not matched against DeSantis in the University of North Florida poll.
Importantly, DeSantis holds a commanding fund-raising lead — a key indicator of support — over all of his challengers.
