Mr. Newman started writing the book in the 1980s but it was left unfinished in his lifetime.

John Capouya and Suzanne Williamson will share the stories, pictures and music that illuminate Mr. Capouya’s new book, Florida Soul: From Ray Charles to KC and the Sunshine Band, Friday at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts.

The program on Tuesday (Jan. 9) at UT will feature singer-song writer Timmy Thomas, who will play the keyboard and tell anecdotes from his career, while author John Capouya reads from his newly-released book, “Florida Soul: From Ray Charles to KC and the Sunshine Band” (UPF, 2017).
